Approval of Wood End Primary School

The Governing Bodies of Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy are delighted to
confirm that both Ealing Council and the Department for Education have approved the
creation of  Wood End Primary School.
This will be achieved on 1st September 2021 through the amalgamation of Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy.
We are very grateful for the support of our staff, parents and carers through the consultation
and legal processes this year.
Thank you to everyone who shared their views about whether the amalgamation should proceed in the consultation before Christmas, and in March about school name and uniform. Following that feedback, the future school name is confirmed as Wood End Primary School (There was an overwhelming number of parents, staff, children and governors who voted for this name) and the future school uniform will be navy blue (more details to follow later this term).

We are currently developing the school vision and values based on responses from the whole
school community – children, parents, staff and governors. From this we will be able to further
develop the vision and values of the school and in turn create the new school logo.
Wood End Primary School will build upon the strengths of the current schools.
It will have a single vision for children from Nursery to Year 6 and will provide a continuity of curriculum and experience for children across that age range. This reflects the pupil journey whereby almost all pupils at Wood End Infants progress to Wood End Academy. Establishing Wood End Primary School removes the need for parents to apply for a Year 3 place.

As a reminder:
● All pupils due to attend either Wood End Infant School or Wood End Academy in September
2021, including those due to join Nursery, Reception or Year 3, will be automatically enrolled at
Wood End Primary School. Parents and carers do not need to do anything.

● While there will be a new school uniform, during 2021/22 pupils can wear the current WEI
uniform, the current WEA uniform, or the new WEPS uniform. As parents need to get new
uniform they can gradually move to the new WEPS uniform.

Now that the decisions have been made, Governors and staff at both schools are working to
ensure that we transition to Wood End Primary School successfully. While bringing two schools
together requires commitment across our school communities, both Governing Bodies remain
convinced that this is in our pupils’ best interests. We look forward to the future with confidence
and excitement

Proposed bringing together of Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy to form a single primary school

Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy are both good schools. Governors at both schools believe that bringing the schools together into a single primary school would enable us to improve further and achieve more for our pupils and our community.

Ealing Council and the Governing Bodies of both Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy are proposing to join the schools together with one head teacher and one governing body from September 2021. Wood End Infant School and Wood End Academy would become Wood End Primary – a single school for pupils from Nursery to Year 6, instead of separate infant and junior schools.

Wood End Primary would use the present sites and buildings of Wood End Infant and Wood End Academy. The primary school would have places for 60 children per year to join Reception i.e. a Published Admission Number of 60. The existing Nursery provision would continue. All pupils attending the schools at present or due to join Nursery, Reception or Year 3 in September 2021 would automatically have places at the primary school.

A consultation document that explains the proposal in more detail is available below.

WEI – WEA Consultation Document

Ealing Council and the Governing Bodies would welcome your views about this proposal. Please have your say before the consultation ends on 11th December 2020.

The online questionnaire is available here.
